WKARS held its inaugural meeting on 7th April 1948 and has been continuously active since then. As the website develops I hope that some of our earlier callsigns will fill in some of our historical activities. Until then please have a look at some of our current activities, which are natter nights, nets and contests.
Club nights are held on the 2nd Monday of the month at Bidborugh village hall.
The regular nets are on 145.575 Monday through Saturday from 0900 (The 9 o'clock net), and Sundays on 28.7± from 1100 hours (The West Kent ARS net).
All amateurs are welcome to join any of these nets whether a member of the Society or not.
On the contest front we regularly take part in the VHF/UHF activity evenings, the 80m cumulatives, QRP HF FD and backpacker's contests. Other contests are entered on an ad hoc basis.
The Club holds two callsigns, G1WKS and G3WKS and for June 2008 GB1WKS to celebrate our diamond Jubilee.
